Ankle pain (e.g., ankle instability, weak ankles, ankle sprains and swelling to your ankles)
Achilles tendon pain and tears –The Achilles tendon which is located behind your ankle can often be injured in sports and other activities. Sometime chronic small injuries can build up over the years to cause painful Achilles problems.
Arch pain (e.g., high-arched foot, Adult acquired flatfoot, accessory navicular syndrome, and tarsal coalition)
Arthritis of the foot and ankle (Osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis)
Bunions – If you’re experiencing pain or soreness, inflammation, a burning sensation, or numbness in your big toe or little toe joint, you may have a bunion or bunionette. A bunion on top of the big toe joint is called Hallux Rigidus. Dr. Harton will work with you to determine a treatment plan that can relieve the pain and suit your needs and problems.
Corns and Calluses– Caused by pressure and repeated rubbing, calluses can be very painful. Dr. Harton can identify the cause of the callus and recommend an appropriate treatment to remove and help prevent the return of the callus.
Diabetic foot problems (e.g., Wounds, complications and amputation prevention, and peripheral neuropathy)
Fractures of the foot (e.g., toes and stress fractures)
Gout – Usually affecting the big toe, gout is caused by the build up of uric acid in the joints. Intense pain is usually associated with a gout attack. Dr. Harton will help you with the treatment of an acute attack and reduce the likelihood of repeat attacks through medication, dietary restrictions, and other treatments.
Hammertoes – A hammertoe is the bending of the joints in your second, third, fourth, or fifth toe. Improperly fitting shoes can aggravate hammertoes, which are often caused by muscle and tendon imbalances. Orthotics, medications, injection therapy, and splinting are some of the non-surgical treatments available for hammertoes. However, in severe cases, surgery may be recommended.
Heel pain or plantar fasciitis – Heel pain can be caused by a number of issues and it is important to identify the cause of the problem before treating the problem itself. Dr. Harton will work with you to determine an appropriate treatment regimen that could include a number of approaches – from injection therapy to orthotics to surgery in the most severe cases of pain in heels.
Pain to the ball of the foot (e.g., Morton’s neuroma, capsulitis of the 2nd toe, and ganglions)
Pediatric foot problems (flatfoot, intoeing, or outtoeing)
Shin splints – Pain in the front of your legs may be caused by repetitive activities as well as improper shoes and flatfeet. Dr. Harton can help you by recommending proper shoes, and determining if you need orthotics.
Skin problems (Athlete’s foot, rash, eczema, skin cancer, and cracked heels)
Toenail issues (Nail fungus, black toenails, ingrown toenails, and thick toenails)
Warts – Wart is a virus that grows in the skin. If left untreated it may spread to other part of the foot.
